American Angie Donovan has never wanted much. When you grow up getting bounced from foster home to foster home, you learn not to become attached to anything, anyone, or any place. But it only took her two days to fall in love with Australia. With her visa clock ticking, surely she can fall in love with an Australian-and get hitched-in two months. Especially if he´s as hot and funny as her next-door neighbor... Jace Walters has never wanted much--except a bathroom he didn´t have to share. The last cookie all to himself. And solitude. But when you grow up in a family of seven, you can kiss those things goodbye. He´s finally living alone and working on his syndicated comic strip in privacy. Sure, his American neighbor is distractingly sexy and annoyingly nosy, but she´ll be gone in a few months... Except now she´s determined to find her perfect match by checking out every eligible male in the town, and her choices are even more distracting. So why does it suddenly feel like he-and his obnoxious tight-knit family, and even these two wayward dogs-could be exactly what she needs?
Epilepsy Memoir: A 45-Year Epilepsy Zen Detour - A detour from the ´´normal life´´ gentlemen, line up your cars, start your engines, green flag, gun your engines, go! Genesis of the epilepsy, the beginning of the electric highway and the ups and downs of epilepsy, depression, correctly diagnosed stress anxiety syndrome and correctly diagnosed panic attacks syndrome, and misdiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia, supposedly all three-psyche nonsense are active which is a load of frozen hockey pucks.Doctor Fitzpatrick White, my first neurologist, said ´´I´ve seen these many times before. When adolescence ends, your seizures will stop”. My seizures will stop when adolescence ends; that was seven or eight years; seven years seemed a lifetime, eight years seemed an eternity. So began the mounting frustration and exasperation with the white coats - the medical personnel - and later on in 2001, 2003, and 2013 those dad-ratted Neuro-psych people. That statement has echoed in my mind during a 40-year prolonged adolescence. The brain is like a car´s engine - it controls what we do and where we go and some of us have faulty electrical systems. In adolescence, testosterone shifted my brain into overdrive and flicked the seizure switch that controlled the firing of my spark plugs to the off position - it has remained there for over four decades. At the end of my sixth-grade-year during the hot summer of 1974 my engine overheated and I had two tonic-clonic - known at the time as grand mal - seizures. At the time I experienced ictal (seizure) amnesia. So began a 45-year-quest for successful seizure control on epilepsy´s static electricity highway. The fictitiously named Doctor Fitzpatrick White died in 2007 of liver cancer.Memories of events prior to that time became vague and uncertain - except for certain notable exceptions. In third grade, my crush on Cindy - a redheaded, emerald-eyed girl - and in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, Stefanie - a sapphir 1. Language: English. Narrator: Patricia Chapman. Discover the new goals and new rules that are the route to a healthier, better looking and better functioning body. For life. From Gwen Stefani and Cameron Diaz to Jennifer Aniston and Naomi Watts, a new breed of 40- and 50-plus women are redefining not just what an ageless body looks like but what´s entailed in achieving it. A dramatic shift in body expectations in the last few years means that despite being plagued by a slowing metabolism and a naturally occurring loss of muscle mass, pre- and postmenopausal women can realistically aim for the healthy, well-functioning bodies they crave as well as physiques that look good, with flat stomachs and sculpted arms. Peta Bee and Dr Sarah Schenker are the living embodiments of this new breed of woman: both in their 40s with children, both with hectic careers and social lives. And both with the same bodies they had in their 30s. What matters, they have discovered through self-experimentation and trawling the scientific literature, is how you go about holding back the years. And the rules - for both exercise and diet - have changed. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Jilly Bond. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/adbl/027607/bk_adbl_027607_sample.mp3. For many years people have held the belief that bipolar disorder only affects adults, but recent findings suggest that having a bipolar child is not only possible, it is actually more and more common these days. While adults generally treat the disorder with the help of medication, therapy and pharmaceuticals, the same approach cannot really be taken with children, especially younger ones, and that´s precisely why the Bipolar Survival Guide for Children by Heather Rose was written. In a majority of cases it is believe that bipolar disorder is passed on genetically, sometimes over the course of generations. The audiobook will first teach you all you need to know about the signs of a bipolar child, allowing you to make sure that your child indeed has bipolar disorder and is not just going through the normal stages of childhood where he or she is prone to temper tantrums. While many do not know this, determining whether or not your child has the disorder as early as possible is extremely important as it will allow you and them to work on ways to cope with the problem. Naturally, apart from being taught everything about the bipolar child symptoms, the audiobook also goes into great detail when it comes to raising a bipolar child so that the disorder doesn´t impeded upon daily life. Long story short, the audiobook contains seven big and effective strategies which will make living with a bipolar child a reality. Naturally, these strategies aren´t the run-of-the-mill advice you receive from uneducated people trying to sound like real experts; these are methods that will teach your child to gain much better control and understanding of their condition, methods you aren´t going to find floating around on self-help websites. 1. Kara DioGuardi is an award-winning hitmaker, a savvy record executive, and a successful music publisher whose songs have been recorded by such superstars as Pink, Carrie Underwood, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Santana, Steven Tyler, CÉline Dion, and so many others. She was also the feisty fourth judge on American Idol. But success wouldn’t have happened for this songwriter, artist, and producer without the dark times of defeat. Filled with the grace, raw honesty, and haunting emotion of her hit songs, A Helluva High Note is the soundtrack to Kara’s life - an intimate anthem about living, creating, loving, stumbling, picking herself up again, and ultimately succeeding. It is a moving chronicle of the experiences that have inspired her songs and given her the resilience and perspective to become the confidant, accomplished, adventurous warrior she is today. Kara not only writes about what it was like to collaborate with some of our favorite performing artists, she also opens up about everything from her struggles with debilitating stage fright and an equally paralyzing eating disorder, to the most devastating yet profoundly life-altering experience - caring for her mother during her fatal battle with cancer. And, of course, she shares behind-the-scenes stories from her years on American Idol and the real truth about her departure from the show. A Helluva High Note is filled with memorable and inspirational tales from the heart and trenches of life, business, and the world of entertainment. Passionate, wise, funny, and down-to-earth, it proves that finding, cultivating, and following your own true voice really is possible.
